Cafe Bar/General Assistant
Job Overview
We are seeking a friendly and efficient Cafe Bar/General Assistant to join our Seabank House team. The ideal candidate will be passionate about hospitality and food service, with a keen eye for detail and excellent customer service skills. This role offers an opportunity to work in a vibrant nature inspired environment, supporting the smooth operation of our coffee bar and ensuring guests enjoy a memorable experience. Previous experience in catering, serving, or food preparation is advantageous, but full training will be provided for the right candidate.
Duties
- Have a friendly outgoing personality providing excellent customer service and rapport with customers with strong communication skills for a customer focused service.
- Welcome and serve customers in a courteous and professional manner
- Prepare and serve a variety of food and beverages, including coffee as a Barista if experienced
- Assist with food preparation tasks to ensure timely service
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the café area, including tables, counters, and kitchen spaces.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Handle cash transactions accurately and operate the till system
- Ensure compliance with food safety standards and hygiene regulations
- Restock supplies as needed to ensure smooth daily operations
- Support catering events or special functions when required
- Provide excellent hospitality to create a welcoming atmosphere for all guests
- Maintain cleanliness in designated public areas such as our reception area, coffee bar, hallways, public toilets and other shared spaces.
- Ensure all surfaces are cleaned and sanitised to meet health and safety regulations.
- Handle dish washing duties as required, including washing and putting away dishes.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure efficient workflow and high standards.
- Restock bar supplies in appropriate areas.
Requirements
- Previous experience in catering, serving, or hospitality is preferred but not essential; enthusiasm and willingness to learn are key
- Experience as a Barista or in food preparation is advantageous but not essential.
- Knowledge of food safety standards and hygiene practices but not essential.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to multitask effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent customer service skills with a friendly and approachable demeanour.
- Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends as needed.
- Excellent communication skills and a friendly demeanour
- Ability to work flexibly during opening hours, including weekends if necessary
- A positive attitude and team spirit are essential for success in this role
