We are seeking a friendly and efficient Cafe Bar/General Assistant to join our Seabank House team. The ideal candidate will be passionate about hospitality and food service, with a keen eye for detail and excellent customer service skills. This role offers an opportunity to work in a vibrant nature inspired environment, supporting the smooth operation of our coffee bar and ensuring guests enjoy a memorable experience. Previous experience in catering, serving, or food preparation is advantageous, but full training will be provided for the right candidate.

 

Duties

 

  • Have a friendly outgoing personality providing excellent customer service and rapport with customers with strong communication skills for a customer focused service.
  • Welcome and serve customers in a courteous and professional manner
  • Prepare and serve a variety of food and beverages, including coffee as a Barista if experienced
  • Assist with food preparation tasks to ensure timely service
  • Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the café area, including tables, counters, and kitchen spaces.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Handle cash transactions accurately and operate the till system
  • Ensure compliance with food safety standards and hygiene regulations
  • Restock supplies as needed to ensure smooth daily operations
  • Support catering events or special functions when required
  • Provide excellent hospitality to create a welcoming atmosphere for all guests
  • Maintain cleanliness in designated public areas such as our reception area, coffee bar, hallways, public toilets and other shared spaces.
  • Ensure all surfaces are cleaned and sanitised to meet health and safety regulations.
  • Handle dish washing duties as required, including washing and putting away dishes.
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure efficient workflow and high standards.
  • Restock bar supplies in appropriate areas.

 

Requirements

 

  • Previous experience in catering, serving, or hospitality is preferred but not essential; enthusiasm and willingness to learn are key
  • Experience as a Barista or in food preparation is advantageous but not essential.
  • Knowledge of food safety standards and hygiene practices but not essential.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to multitask effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent customer service skills with a friendly and approachable demeanour.
  • Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends as needed.
  • Excellent communication skills and a friendly demeanour
  • Ability to work flexibly during opening hours, including weekends if necessary
  • A positive attitude and team spirit are essential for success in this role
